ABOUT THE SOCIETY

The Bead Society of Great Britain, (formed in September 1989), is a subscription-based, non-profitmaking, non-commercial venture run by a permanent Team who work voluntarily.
The Society is open to all those who have an appreciation, either private or professional, of beads ancient and modern, of all shapes, sizes, materials and colours; their techniques of manufacture, and their application. The Society numbers among its members private collectors, researchers, dealers, jewellery makers, bead embroiderers, beadwork weavers (on- and off-loom), makers of beads, and many others - so there's a place for everyone!

Society Meetings

The Society currently holds five meetings each year - three lectures/workshops, an AGM and a Bead Fair. These meetings are usually on Sundays at various venues, the majority in the south and midlands of England.

The Newsletter

(From October onwards each year, a special subscription arrangement allows new members to receive the last two newsletters from that year, plus all those of the next year - rates for Oct 2007-Dec 2008 £13 per family (at one UK address) or £17 overseas).

Commercial Information

Please note that in fairness to its numerous commercial members, the Society neither seeks to obtain nor distributes information regarding primary sources of supply of beads. We do not keep any kind of list of beadshops or bead traders. The newsletters, however, do carry adverts from members who are bead suppliers.
